Psalm 30:5 “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes
with the morning.”
What if joy isn’t about being completely happy because life finally
makes sense? What if I’m not waiting for my brokenness to disappear but just
waiting for daily grace?
Maybe then I wouldn’t be angry with God at the onset of
evening or doubt his goodness because today’s sunshine didn’t last. We’re
promised joy in the morning, not joy from here on out. Yes, we are kept safe
for a never-ending Day. No more night, no more tears. But for now, our sun
rides a circuit. And God is as faithful in the sun’s setting as he is in its
rising. The mercies are always new.
Don’t be afraid when joy disappears. Don’t be afraid of the
dark.
We ride a broken record of dawn and dusk. Night is inescapable,
but dawn is just as relentless. Joy always returns.
